Songs For Spring, Sunshine, and Gardening Delights

Hello everyone,

Please check our this post’s partner: Photos From My Garden.

I am a fanatic about well put words. You can find many of these in the lyrics of beautiful songs. I truly love a good song and am so glad God gave us this eternal gift. Lyrics will continue to be a part of this blog because wonderful words put to music should never go unnoticed.

I love sharing music with others and I am geeked about this post. These songs are some of my favorite songs that remind me of spring and flowers and gardens and growth and creation itself. Sorry if there is too much folksy music on here. I tend to listen to quite a lot of that genre!

If you do try out these songs, please let me know.

  1. Music From A Garden by The Gray Havens

This duo has many beautiful lyrics and somewhat have a story telling vibe. This song honors creation and the Trinity.

Favorite lyric: The voice of the Lion start to speak // And then there was light // When the light hits the water, the colors shine // Oh, but which one do you choose to paint the sky // Blue was the one that won // But he shares it with the others in the evening and dawn

  1. Scarborough Fair/Canticle by Simon and Garfunkel

This is such a calming song that reminds me of herbs and sunshine. I mean they say, “Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme” quite a few times (which are all fantastic herbs).

Favorite lyric: Tell her to find me an acre of land (A sprinkling of leaves) // Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme (Washes the grave with silvery tears) // Between the salt water and the sea strands

  1. April Come She Will By Simon and Garfunkel

Another sweet song by this duo about the changing of the seasons.

Favorite lyric: April come she will // When streams are ripe and swelled with rain // May, she will stay // Resting in my arms again

  1. Sunshine Sunshine by James Taylor

This song is sung like your talking to sunshine itself. How could it not be a spring song!

Favorite lyric: Things ain’t what they used to be, pain and rain and misery // Illness in the family and sunshine means a lot to me, I say sunshine.

  1. All Things Bright and Beautiful

This was a hymn I grew up listening to and it always makes me smile. Everything God created has purpose and is beautiful.

Favorite lyric: Each little flower that opens, // Each little bird that sings, // He made their glowing colours, // He made their little wings.

  1. It Might As Well Be Spring from the musical State Fair

This song is one of the works by the dynamic duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II for the musical State Fair. But you can find this song covered by others. I personally like the Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra covers.

Favorite lyric: I’m as busy as spider spinning daydreams // Spinning spinning daydreams

  1. Catch Another Butterfly by John Denver

This song is an ode to the joys of childhood and growing up. I love how poetic these lyrics are.

Favorite lyric: And I wonder if the // Smell of mornings faded // What happened to the robins // Song that sparkled in the sky // Where’s all the water gone // That tumbled down the stream // Will I ever catch another butterfly

  1. Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles

This melody is so recognizable and makes me want to take a walk in a park with the sun shining on my face or bury my hands in deep brown soil to plant a seed.

Favorite lyric: Little darling, it’s been a long cold lonely winter // Little darling, it feels like years since it’s been here

Don’t forget to check out my post: Photos From My Garden!

Happy planting!

  1. Kennedy!!! I didn’t know you were a Gray Havens fan! We love them. YouProbably already know, but that song was inspired by The Magician’s Nephew. “The Dove and the Composer will be dancing when the Lion comes again.”

    1. I did not know that but that makes complete sense! Wow that is so cool! I think you were the one that told me about The Gray Havens! I think you told me to listen to Jack and Jill pt. 2 which is spectacular. I love their lyrics!
