As you could see from my last post, I am a lover of fall and winter time. I am always ready to feel breezy winds that make me shiver. There is something nice about not being smothered by heat and having crisp air or cool temperatures surrounding you.
I am not saying that I love love love negative temperatures and having my toes feel like icicles. There are definitely days it is freezing for everyone.
And that is why we have lovely comforts to warm our souls.
As the seasons change and the temperatures start to drop, I love to fix food that fits the season we are in.
One of those foods is soup!
I will eat soup year round, but there is some lovely feeling you get when you eat a hot bowl of soup while being surrounded by winter’s blessings.
This past week I took my first stab at French onion soup, and I was delightfully ecstatic by how it turned out! It was the perfect way to usher in our new season!

Here are some pictures of my time in the kitchen.
I also want to use this post for accountability. I am going to list some soups I’d like to make this fall! And in December I will have a follow up post on what I made.
Maybe you guys can join in with me!! 🙂
Butternut Squash Soup
I have been saying for years that I am going to attempt to make this soup. And this year I DECLARE I AM! This choice is the epitome of fall food!
My mother has made a fantastic potato soup, but I have not hunkered down and made it! This will be the year. I think potatoes would honestly be one of the hardest foods for me to give up. I never can refuse them especially if cheese is involved!
Broccoli and Cheese Soup
This is another one I have said I would make so many times.
This has been a household favorite! I love how hearty this soup is, and it has all the food groups in one bowl!
Not Campbell’s! I made a homemade tomato soup over a year ago and it was superb! Especially with tons of basil and grilled cheese sandwiches!
What are some soups you like to make to prepare for the season? Tell me in the comments below, and I might just add them to the list! 🙂
